HG Gao Gao 00 Series Overview

Hello bootleg lovers, it’s time for another overview from Gao Gao HG kits. This time is 00 series. This series is a newer line of Gao Gao so it should be better than the Seed series.

Signature from this series are GN Drive and GN Condensor. GN Drive is an egg shaped unit mounted on the MS as a power source. In the actual kit, the placement of the GN Drive is different for each kit. Most of them are on the back but there is also placed on the butt, crotch and shoulders. GN Condensors in the kits were made by using clear plastic and we get stickers to put on the inside of the condensors being placed. For me that’s a little problem because the condensors will not look cool like in the anime. So I always colored them using my Sharpie marker or we can use any other opaque marker. But Gao Gao always cannot make the clear part clean. It always scratched.

Aside from that, this series has small backpack. In the 1^st season they only got GN Drive on the back. On the 2^nd season, they got small backpack for some MS like Cherudim and some big backpack for 00 Raiser, Seravee and Reborns. Although there are some MS with big backpack, the backpack doesn’t hinder the movement. That’s a good point for articulation and posing abilities. . The articulation of the 1st season kits like Exia and friends is still not that good. But still better than Seed series. In 2nd season kits, it’s improved.

This series has matte finish mostly. Yes, there are some kits with glossy finish like Virtue, etc. Unlike Seed Series we’ve discussed before, the proportion of this series is good. It has longer legs and arms and also slightly bigger torso. The increment of the height on the legs mostly on the thighs and the knee joint.

In terms of assembly mechanism, it has better design to hide some gaps. But I don’t know why, the snapfit on this series are worse than the Seed series either plastic to polycaps or plastic to plastic. But because of that, the joints are stiffer on some spots like on ankle and shoulder. Some parts on my Seed kits are loose from the beginning so it’s not because played so much it’s more because of the mold of the holes. So yeah, as usual if we encounter the problem like the hard ‘pushfit’ we can enlarge the hole or trim the peg a little.

The detail of this series is still the same as the Seed series. The face mask is still bad, the panel lines and so on. But it already got so many details unlike Seed series which has so many plain parts.

The hands on this series are getting better, credit to Bandai. The hands can hold the weapons well. The articulation of the kits also better

The accessories on this series are enough, not as many as Seed series except 00 SevenSword/G or GNHW upgrades. There are no special effect part like on Destiny but it get some clear parts for the condensors and sensors on the rifle.

And for the stickers, as always Gao Gao cannot make it good. We cannot rely on stickers for detailing. We should paint it if we want our kits look better.
