HG 1/144 Blaze Zaku Phantom (Gao Gao / TT Hongli) Review Part 1

Hello bootleg lovers, today we’ll be looking at the HG 1/144 Blaze Zaku Phantom from Gundam Seed Destiny series. This is the 2^nd mono-eyed MS so far in this blog. Yes, it is a Zaku, so the greatness of this kit is already shown by the name. As usual, Seed Destiny line has big backpack and so does with this kit.

UNBOXING

The boxart is normal, nothing really special. As usual, they gave us only one plastic bag for all runners. Don’t forget that it is Gao Gao, so we may find that the plastic bag is dusty.

RUNNERS

If the plastic bag is dusty, it means that the runners also. We get matte finish on this kit which is good for Zaku. We get some dark colors for the main MS itself. So the stress marks will be seen easily on this kit. They gave us normal stand base but there is no hole in the crotch for the stand base.

PARTS

Head

The head is pretty normal for a Zaku. But the eye looks surprised. I think the helmet should be lower to make it better.

Torso

The body has a tight snapfit. Don’t use force to put them on or you will get stress mark on a black part.

Arms

The shoulders have tight snapfit which will affect the articulation later.

Waist

The skirt is awesome. It has red parts for the thrusters. There are grenades on the side skirts and each of them is removable.

Legs

The legs are normal for a Zaku. There are hoses and yellow thrusters outline which make the legs good looking. But the hoses always tend to pop off everytime. The feet are wide which is good to support the kit without backpack.

Weapons and Accessories

This is what you want from Seed kits, the weapons. We get a pair of spiky shield with 2 ammo clips attached on each shield, a pair of beam axe, a Zaku rifle, an open left hand and a trigger finger right hand. The shields will be mounted on the shoulders. The rifle has movable and removable ammo clip. Unfortunately they are all black which for some reasons make the details unseen.

Backpack

The backpack is very good looking. It has some gimmicks to reveal the missiles and the thrusters. The design reminds me of Build Booster from Gundam Build Fighters series.

Standart Pose

Pretty nice kit. Everything is solid.

Verdict

The kit is pretty good looking with some minor vibrant colors. But usually this kind of MS has limited articulation. How is the articulation on this kit?  Stay tuned for the next part.
