HG 1/144 Union Flag (Gao Gao / TT Hongli) Review Part 3

Hello bootleg lovers, this is the last part of the review of HG 1/144 Union Flag from Gao Gao. After we know the details of each part we can conclude whether this kit is good or not.

Mold

The mold is awful. The armors are good, but the joints like hinge and ball joints which made from plastic are bad. They don’t precise at all as you can see in the first part.

Color

The color is nicely reproduced. The orange on the clear visor also good. The light purple is very charming.

Detail

As usual, the panel lines on Gao Gao kits are always wider. Some details also misshaped. But still good enough. 

Snapfit

The mold affects the snapfit so that the snapfit is so bad. Trimming and some modifications are needed to make the parts snapped together. 

Sticker

As you can see on the first part of this review, I couldn’t use the sticker. So I cannot give scores to this part because it’s so bad. Fortunately, the stickers are mostly black which can be replaced by my black acrylic paint.

Face mask

This kit has no gundam face, so this section will be for the overall head design. The head is pretty good, while the visor is nicely detailed. The upper part of the helmet also a little bit blunt. It could be sharper on the pointy part.

Stiffness

Some parts on this kit are loose because my modification. So actually this kit is very stiff but cannot move at all. So modification is a must. But do it carefully.

Finish

Like any other Gao Gao 00 kits, the finish is matte. That is very good. Although I imagine if this kit get glossy finish, the look will be better just like on the anime.

Articulation

The details of the articulation has been discussed on the part 2, so overall articulation is pretty good. 

Playability

The weaponry is limited, only slim shield, beam rifle and plasma blade. But don’t forget that Union Flag is a transformer Mobile Suit. So it will make the playability better. And the transform mechanism is pretty simple and doesn’t need to replace parts, so it’s very good.

Actually this kit is pretty good. It is unique and it can transform. Despite the fact that it needs so many modification to build, this kit is something that should be tried by anyone who never have transforming Mobile Suit.
